C:\>how2become (data) & dissolve_into: ‘tears’
(2022)
SYNOPSIS
C:\>how2become (data) & dissolve_into: 'tears' is a transmedia performance about the migration of the performative event from the physical to the virtual realm. This possibility of digitization allows a group of performers to explore the dematerialization of their bodies - as well as the theatrical space itself - in one last performance, originating new digital interactions and non-anthropomorphic possibilities of representation.
Following transmedia assumptions, the performative experience is divided into four chapters, each corresponding to different media. During this performance, the audience is invited to participate in all stages, although it may also experience each chapter separately. Because life is made of choices, isn't it?
#1 Spectators receive the first part of this performative event at home in a book format.
#2 Spectators are invited for a one-to-one meeting.
#3 Spectators may attend the third chapter in the theater venue.
#4 The last chapter of the event can be accessed online.
This design seeks to expand the performative event and understand how perceptions can be reconfigured through fictions and experiences that explore the digital. This work continues an artistic investigation about performing arts and digital culture, while also reflecting on modes of spectatorship in performing arts.
Transmedia assumptions introduce an intentional divergence in the performative path of each spectator. Although the complete dramaturgy is only experienced through the four chapters, they are simultaneously independent and interdependent, hence the audience may decide which chapters to experience.
